Channel Tunnel Rail Link

Client: Eiffel (UK) Ltd

Value: £125 million

Lucking & Clark were appointed by Eiffel UK Limited to carry out structural design and detailing for a design and build contract at Stratford and EBBSfleet International Stations.

The contract was for construction of escape bridges, platform canopies, scenic lifts, glass balustrading, and safety screens.

Stratford is a major public transport interchange serving east and north east London, Docklands, the City and East Anglia. It opened with the second section of the CTRL in 2007. The new CTRL station formed the focus for regeneration of a 120 hectare site, which extended Stratford town centre.

The Ebbsfleet station, in north Kent, close to the A2 trunk road and convenient for the M25, is only 15 minutes from St Pancras, compared with the previous Gravesend-London time of around 50 minutes. Like Stratford, Ebbsfleet is a catalyst for regeneration of the surrounding area, and also opened in 2007 as part of Section 2 of the CTRL.
